Honoring John Avelluto of Bay Ridge SAW

Join NARS Foundation's artists and supporters as we celebrate art in South Brooklyn at our 6th Annual Fall Fête & Art Auction on November 9th, honoring John Avelluto and his work with Bay Ridge SAW.

In 2017, NARS will have hosted 32 artists in residence from all over the world and provided space grants to a dozen more local artists to develop and present their artistic practice within a growing artists' community in Sunset Park. In the year to come, we need your help to continue supporting artists, present timely exhibitions and discursive events, and provide educational workshops in our community.

Ticket levels:
Artists and arts professionals - $45
Fete ticket for 1 - $100
Fete ticket for 2 - $300, includes 1 artwork valued up to $500
Fete ticket for 2 - $500, includes 1 artwork valued up to $1000
A limited amount of tickets will be available at the door for $150

About John Avelluto:

John Avelluto was born in Gravesend, Brooklyn and attended Brooklyn College, acquiring a BA in English and subsequently an MFA in Visual Art. Since then he has gone on to exhibit his work both nationally and abroad while remaining active as a conduit for arts in the public sphere. John is a founder (’09) of the Bay Ridge 5th Ave Storefront Art Walk (SAW) and The Bay Ridge Poets Society (’13), both of which are testament to his interest in the multifaceted relationships between Art and community. In 2014 John was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Brooklyn Culture by Brooklyn Magazine. In the same year John was lauded by the online forum for arts and culture Hyperallergic magazine for his solo exhibition, Disintegrator, at Studio 10 in Bushwick, Brooklyn. He is the co-owner and operator of The Owls Head Wine Bar in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn where he lives and works with his wife and two daughters.
