My World: My Garden
Free Family Workshop
Saturday, June 11, 1-3pm
Please join us for the fourth session in a series of free workshops, led by teaching artist Sophia Chizuco, and part of a yearlong project titled My World. During this series of workshops, families will create different elements in each session that when put together, will function as small installations or sets portraying each participant's “world”.
The fourth workshop will explore creating an abstract painting, which will become the background for each ‘world’. Kids and their families will be encouraged to use their imaginations and work together to learn how to create a resist painting with oil pastel (crayons) and watercolor. All materials will be provided.
Families are encouraged to attend all workshops, however, they will also be able to attend single sessions. At the end of the series, there will be a pop up exhibition hosted at the NARS Galleries in Sunset Park, where all participants will be able to present their creations.
Limited to 10 families. Children participating should be at least 4 y/o. All attendees 11 y/o and older will need to present proof of full vaccination.

Acompáñenos en la cuarta sesión de una serie de talleres gratuitos, dirigidos por la artista pedagógica Sophia Chizuco, y que forman parte de un proyecto de un año de duración titulado Mi mundo. Durante esta serie de talleres, las familias crearán diferentes elementos en cada sesión que, al juntarse, funcionarán como pequeñas instalaciones o decorados que retratan el "mundo" de cada participante.
El cuarto taller explorará la creación de una pintura abstracta, que se convertirá en el fondo de cada "mundo". Se animará a los niños y a sus familias a usar su imaginación y a trabajar juntos para aprender a crear una pintura de resistencia con pastel al óleo (lápices de colores) y acuarela. Se proporcionarán todos los materiales.
Se anima a las familias a asistir a todos los talleres, aunque también podrán asistir a sesiones sueltas. Al final de la serie, habrá una exposición pop up en las Galerías NARS de Sunset Park, donde todos los participantes podrán presentar sus creaciones.
