Artist Statement/ Biography
In her artistic practice, Zindzi Zwietering investigates the human perspective on the climate crisis. She transforms terrifying facts into soft, almost tender images. In a world subject to crisis, Zwietering tends to look for solace. For a way of dealing with a future approaching us rapidly. Zwietering faces reality with wonder as her greatest weapon. In addition to consolation, her work offers reflection. Because how do we, inhabitants of this earth, deal with increasingly severe periods of water shortages, heat and floods, and all the consequences that entail?--
The work of artist Zindzi Zwietering (1992, Amsterdam) tends to start off from photography, but usually evolves in various other media such as silk screens, drawings and paintings. She holds a BA in photography from the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague and is a recipient of the Mondriaan Stipend for Emerging Artists. Her book ‘Bron’ was recently published by publisher the Eriskay Connection. Zwietering exhibited at the Lakenhal Museum, Art Rotterdam, Dutch Design Week, Unseen and Unfair. Her work is acquired by numerous private collections.
