Artist Statement

Vasiliki Antonopoulou is a performance and installation artist based in London. She was born in Greece and raised in Saudi Arabia, two locations which re-emerge in her practice. Her work seeks to challenge and explore notions of different spaces and our experiences within them. Her concepts vary between projects, but unite in their attempt of understanding and challenging the relationship and effect between actions and their hosting environment. Questioning the medium of performance art, she combines the documentation of the live event, with filmed footage to create video collages. This way her stage becomes the space of the installation rather than the time and place of the performances, creating an experience of ‘live viewing’.
