As part of the Sunset Park Open Studios 2024, NARS Foundation A.i.Rs, Lafina Eptaminitaki, Jieun Lim, and Woojae Kim enliven the Sunset Park Open Studios with a tripple in-studio installation titled 3 Studios. This activation opens the studio to critical access, contemplating on social form and acts of process-making.
Lafina’s performative act Walking, Waiting, Writing with Rocks invites the public into the staging of a mound of rocks carefully arranged by hand into lines across the studio floor, forming a written field of stones and becoming both language and landscape. Using every inch of her studio space through a process of assemblage, Jieun’s Method invites the audience to enter a situation, where existing elements within the studio’s contours are in play. Woojae’s reading from his installation I Hear a Silent Dissonance connects the process of making drums, site visits to fire-affected forests, and personal memories. A sound composition of handmade drums will accompany the reading.
Lafina’s performance will be on Saturday, October 19 starting at 2PM, located in Studio 406. Woojae’s reading performances will be on Saturday, October 19 starting at 3PM, located in Studio 414B. Jieun’s studio installation is located in Studio 414C.
3 studios is organized by NARS Curatorial Fellow Dylan Seh-Jin Kim.
