Artist Statement/ Biography

Majid Mohammadpour is an artist who, to make sculptures with geometric shapes first designs them with 3D software and then builds them. He uses clay and papier-mâché because of their lightness and availability to make replicas of sculptures such as figures and non-geometric shapes. He is interested in photographing historical buildings and architecture of the past era, and records and archives them and uses them in his works. His paintings are poetic and imaginative, in his works the colors are simple, the forms are in their minimum activity, the space is depicted imaginatively and all the elements are at the service of the subject.

Majid Mohammadpour was born in Iran in 1979, lives and works in Tehran. He has been working as an interdisciplinary artist in various fields of visual arts for many years. He is an artist who has worked in the fields of designing and making urban sculptures, painting, and urban photography. In 2018, he participated in a long-term artist residency in Switzerland and completed a project, at the end of the residency he had a solo exhibition of sculptures and paintings with a humanistic approach. < BACK
