Artist Biography

Kyoung Eun Kang continuously studies and explores her personal transformation, growth and identity, obsessively trying to understand the boundaries in personal and familial relationships. She tries to capture the subtlety of human nature and behavior by observing situations that question how humans form bonds and attachments.

Her work varies in format from live performance to video, drawing, photography and sound pieces. She hopes to capture the subtle beauty of human encounters and growth, embracing dynamic actions that resonate in the human experience, such as walking, breathing, eating and gathering. Most of her work is filmed in real life environments, such as public parks, city streets, countryside, and isolated lighthouses. She often juxtaposes particular Korean stones, care packages or other objects from her childhood and Korean culture into new environments to question what heritage, culture, and family means.
