Artist Statement/ Biography

Jiin You's interdisciplinary practice investigates different mades of production as well as expanding craft-related techniques with non-traditional materials such as mirror, stained glass, ceramic, and etc.
Propaganda, which is an emerged term referring to propagating sacred doctrine to sacrilegious sinners stained with crime, was metamorphosed into a word to entrench the cause of war to many people at the onset of the First World War and was relegated into a cunning device of corporations that encouraged many people to purchase their products under the capitalism. As an American philosopher Judith Butler argued, we are always feared and depressed on the fact that any chronological perspective could rebuke us and we are likely be excluded from unless we are embraced into its proliferation. In this way, keywords captured in the works are "propaganda" and "perspectives" that have been contributed to the time and modified into different forms.
