Season IV 2024

Jieun Lim (South Korea)

Artist Statement/ Biography

Lim is deeply engaged in remembering and recording various events and situations through her multifocal gaze on everyday life, literature, music, subcultures, and more, weaving narratives that are both accidental and inevitable. These narratives engage with time and space in complex ways, often brushing past themes of exchange, relationship, intimacy, wandering, alienation, and obsession. The artist adopts the form of a 'non-linear visual essay,' intentionally avoiding dramatic narratives. Instead, she seeks a rhythmic alignment of multiple, tentative perspectives. In the spaces where these perspectives converge, she hopes to foster a deep connection between humanity and the environment. Lim curates and rehearses stories through a variety of media, including images, voices, videos, sculptures, environmental compositions, playlists, and publications.
