2023 Season II

Artist Statement/ Biography

Jeffrey Poirier is developing a multidisciplinary practice whose main material and conceptual affinities can be found in the wider circle of ecology. The ecological question manifests itself in his practice from various angles: if certain projects address the known issues generated by the relationship between a precarious nature and our individual and collective lifestyles, the occupation of urban territory, of which architecture is a key element, also leads him to question our ways of inhabiting the world and its spaces. Often halfway between sculpture and architecture, his artistic practice develops devices that inhabit the space of the place and attempt to redefine it as a space of perception. These hybrid structures also sometimes appear as devices of monstration questioning the mode of presentation of objects.
