Artist Statement/ Biography
Gabriel Bielawski's work examines the ways that image making transforms real identities into vectors for the expression of others, most recently with a focus on the tragic relationship between these processes and ancestral memory. He is currently developing an installation re-enacting the ritual creation of the golem, a body made from clay that is said to have been brought to life through Jewish mystical practice.--
Gabriel Bielawski graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2017 with a BFA from the Film / Animation / Video Department. He lives and works in Brooklyn producing large scale installations that incorporate sculpture, found objects, and computer animation.
