Artist Statement/ Biography

Caroline Falby uses stream of consciousness to blend drawing, collage, painting and digital imaging into mixed media pieces that relate her personal experience to larger social and historical events. As her artistic ideas have evolved, her practice has moved further into the digital realm through animation and computer coding. She is currently working on an interactive animation project about stigma relating to HIV.

Caroline Falby's work has been exhibited at The Drawing Center, the Spring/Break Art Show, The Bronx Museum, NurtureART, and the Queens Museum. She was granted a Swing Space Residency by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council; a Project Fellowship from the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop; a BRIC Media Arts Fellowship; the Artcycle MFA Discovers Prize; an AIM Residency at The Bronx Museum of the Arts, a Brooklyn Arts Council Grant and a Media/Film grant from NYSCA. She holds a BFA from Parsons School of Design and an MFA from Hunter College, CUNY.
