The New York Art Residency & Studios Foundation is delighted to announce Celestial Sunset, our 4th Annual Spring Benefit and Silent Auction. Join us on Wednesday, April 22nd for an evening orbiting the stars from our home in Sunset Park. Spring will be in bloom giving way to a time meant for dancing under the paper moons and reveling with friends old and new. The walls will be alive with art and the cocktails will be flowing. So tuck away your sweaters, put on your party outfit and dancing shoes, and come celebrate another year of successful programming with us! All ticket and artwork sales go directly towards artist fellowships and our educational outreach programs.
As we enter our fifth year of programming, we look back and are proud of our progress since our founding in 2006 and the launching of our programs in 2010. The support of our community is essential to our continued growth and strength throughout the next year. We continue to provide professional development opportunities to artists through our growing international residency programs and short-term national and international studio spaces, serving over 30 emerging and mid-career artists in the past year. Our exhibition programming has given voice to the vision of 60 curators and artists from all over the world. Additionally, our monthly free family educational programming of exhibition tours and children’s workshops has expanded and become even more popular in our local community. We are pleased to have partnered this year with PS 172, an elementary school in Sunset Park, with whom we present an after-school animation workshop, giving children greater access to the visual arts. Our annual benefit is an opportunity to engage with and reaffirm our commitment to our community – to you!
On April 22nd, we’ll be celebrating at our home in Sunset Park so tell your friends, your family, your lover: any contribution to our Benefit will make a big difference. Help us to continue to grow and reach our goals to support artists, curators, and our community in 2015!

Since our founding in 2006 and the launching of our programs in 2011, we’ve had quite a growth spurt. We continue to provide professional development opportunities through our affordable long-term studio spaces, progressive exhibition programs and short-term integrated international residency programs. Our new partnerships with MoCADA, Residency Unlimited and Abrons Arts Center have us pooling our resources to support each other’s programming efforts and enriching the experience of our artist communities. Additionally, we’re delighted to have recently joined hands with two Brooklyn middle schools as part of our effort to launch our Education and Community Outreach Programs. We will be implementing afterschool and mentorship programs and opening up our space to the community for exhibition tours, and children’s workshops. Your contribution will propel our vision and reflect in our ongoing effort to provide successful and enriching programs.
Our annual benefit is an affirmation of our steadfast commitment to emerging and underrepresented artists and curators as we carry on our mission to provide them with opportunities to discover just how far their creative processes can reach. It is also a step towards strengthening our ties with the local community and creating greater accessibility to the fine arts. NARS is a destination, a Sunset Park nexus which aims to generate inspiration and dialogue from as far away as Australia and Kenya and as close as from down the block. Tell your friends, your family, your lover: your attendance at our Benefit will make a big difference. We look forward to welcoming everyone on November 10. New York Art Residency and Studios (NARS) Foundation is pleased to announce Sunset Rising, our first annual Benefit Event. We hope you will join us for a celebratory evening of music, drinks and a silent art auction. The event, to be held on December 6th at the NARS Foundation, is a wonderful opportunity to make strides in strengthening our vital cultural community on both a local and international level. Proceeds from ticket and artwork sales will benefit our various programming and community outreach efforts.
Since its founding in 2006, the NARS Foundation has continued to develop and expand its programming while providing support services and professional development for emerging and mid-career artists. These include affordable long-term studio spaces, progressive exhibition programs and short-term integrated international residency programs. We are delighted to announce that we are inviting our first group of international artists into our residency program next year. Additionally, over the course of the next two years, we look forward to expanding our residency community by implementing an international curatorial residency program that will foster collaboration and dialogue among the curator and our 120 NARS studio and residency artists. We are also very excited to be developing and launching an educational outreach program in 2012, which will open our organization to the underserved youth and families of south Brooklyn. Through afterschool programs and hands-on family workshops, we hope to create a cultural venue that increases familiarity and fosters accessibility to contemporary art.
The NARS Foundation is a non-profit arts organization committed to presenting diverse platforms on which to nurture creative inspiration and innovative cross-pollination of ideas. Your contribution and attendance at our Benefit will help propel this mission forward and make these programs possible. As a 501(c)(3) organization, your donations are tax-deductible. We sincerely thank you in advance for your support, generosity, and much appreciated partnership. We are grateful for your participation and look forward to seeing you on December 6th!
