NARS Foundation in pleased to present Hovering by Jean Oh. Hovering presents a series of paintings which focus on the sensitive state of inescapable constant disturbance.
A repetitive introduction of disturbance to the constant state of mind thus becomes the norm, changing the initial state into disturbance itself. This represents our reality, a state in which we are made to suffer by forcing ourselves to fit into social norms.
Jean Oh’s paintings act as a constant reminder and a reflection of this instability by presenting minor disturbances through the juxtaposition of the off-balanced composition with detailed delicacy.
Jean Oh holds a BFA from MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) and an MFA from Pratt Institute. Oh has been featured in Saatchi Art'’ Rising Stars Report 2019. She also has been selected as the winner of the Silver Award for AHL-T&W Foundation Contemporary Visual Art Awards. She has had solo exhibitions at the Gateway Gallery 1 in Baltimore, MA and the Steuben Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. Her work presented by numerous group shows in the USA: 2019 11th Annual Juried Art Show (Riverviews Artspace, Lynchburg, VA); 2018 Small Work 2018 (Trestle Gallery Brooklyn, NY); and Concept 2018 (CICA Museum, Gimpo, South Korea.)
