Statement:
Anything existing in the world will always be better (through efficiency of form, function or aesthetics) than anything I could make. As an object maker (material or immaterial), the best I can do is excite, simulate, respond to or invoke something that exists. This principal is why I’m interested in models; not only in their structure but as analytical tools for conceptualizing esoteric information. In my work these models take the form of familiar objects (recipes, games, time-lines, etc) through various artistic media ranging from drawing installations to sculpture and video. Through this project based practice I employ references to popular culture and the mundane to access the roots of our modes of thinking and action as well as to addresses broader systems, rules and procedures that affect identity, behavior and navigation.
